Part One: In variable set 1, the two indicators are Children born per woman, which shows how developed a country is on a social level, and Income per person, which shows the average wealth of a person within a country. Although these may not seem directly correlated, the graph shows that when the income of a person increases, the lower number of children they have. In variable set 2, the two indicators are the total CO2 emissions from a country, and the total amount of electricity used in a country. It is very easily noticed, that when the CO2 emissions in a country increase, the amount of electricity increases as well. These show development on an industrial, as well as agricultural and residential scale.
Part Two: In variable set 1, Europe was leading with the U.S. for the first 150 years, during the next few years, Eastern Asian countries such as South Korea , Japan, and some of the high-end Chinese territories. Near the very end a few middle-eastern countries caught up such as Qatar and Kuwait. Europe and the U.S. led the groups because they were the first countries to experience the Industrial revolution, and the others followed when they experienced industrialization. In variable set 2, the U.S. led far more than an other country until China boomed in the 2000's. The U.S. and China are far higher than every other country. Reasons for this are that China is going through massive industry right now, and The U.S. massive ranches of livestock, and phenomenal infrastructure.
